As part of this project, we took care to select lesser-known pieces from Henri Salvador’s repertoire, but which correspond closely to the artist’s Brazilian universe.
A rigorous selection was made for each musical composition. In addition, a specific collaboration will be set up with the Musical Director and the arranger Marcos Valle concerning the assignment of the different songs to the selected performers.
Last May, in Rio de Janeiro, a new version of “Rose”, music by Henri Salvador and lyrics by Bernard Michel, was recorded. This song, widely recognised in Brazil, featured in the 1958 film “Europa de Noite“, along with “Dans mon île”, which has influenced several generations of Brazilian musicians. The 2023 version of “Rose” was recorded by Joyce Moreno and Marcos Valle, the latter also playing keyboards and arranging.

At this stage, we can reveal that the second musical composition selected was “Dans tes yeux“, a song by Henri Salvador for the music and Maurice Pon for the lyrics, taken from the album “Ma chère et tendre”.
For this album, the Brazilian version will include lyrics translated by the poet Paulo Mendonça. It’s worth pointing out that this song was suggested to Celso Fonseca, a Carioca artist well acquainted with Henri’s world. Indeed, Celso Fonseca has already included a majestic Bossa Nova rendition of “J’ai vu” on his album “Rive Gauche”, which has been transformed for the occasion into “Na pele de um flâneur“.
